I started running at the back end of 2018 to lose weight. Being a complete newbie to running, I looked at local running clubs but didn't have the courage to venture to join one until I saw Evenwood Road Runners. The days & times for the club suited me best out of the local clubs & I am so glad I chose ERR. My first run at the club was great, everyone was friendly & inviting, running & chatting (well I listened as running & talking was not possible). I never thought I'd say that running became enjoyable & at ERR its not just running but a social event. I have made some fabulous friends, ran distances I never have thought I'd ever run. I even won the most improved female in 2023. ERR is an amazing club.

I joined Evenwood Road Runners in 2023 after a few years of running on my own I decided to take the plunge and join a running club thinking am I good enough to join a running club will I be fast enough. I always remember the first time I attended the club on a dark damp Wednesday night knowing absolutely no one I was instantly made to feel welcome by members of the club. Whether you’re chasing personal bests or just enjoying the run, there’s a place for everyone here at Evenwood Road Runners

I joined Evenwood Road Runners in 2017 after doing couch to 5k I hadn't run since I was at school the support I have had over the years from this club has helped me achieve things I never thought I could possibly do from half marathons to a wide variety of races over the years. You will not find a better supportive club with great social events.

Eight years ago, I moved from the South to the North East. I had been a on & off runner for year but struggled to stick with it. After moving I wanted to meet new people, so I built up the courage to join a Wednesday club run with Evenwood Road Runners. That decision was a good one. Since then I haven't looked back. I've made some amazing friends and the support and encouragement from the club has helped me go from barely being able to run a mile to completing 3 marathons. Joining Evenwood Road Runners has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. It hasn't just helped me with my running but also with my social circle.

In 2019 aged almost 60 years I decided to try running, having not ran since my school days. I did the couch to 5k via a app on my mobile phone and within a short time I had cracked it and found i could run 5k without stopping - what an achievement I thought !! I then spoke to someone who recommended Evenwood Road Runners I made some enquiries and have never looked back. From my first run i was welcomed with open arms and i have been a member ever since. I have also managed to complete the Great North Run a few times. What can I say Evenwood Road Runners is a lovely club and not too competitive, just a bunch of smashing people some whom I feel will be friends for life. We do club runs, club days out, Park runs to name a few. My advice is give it a go you certainly wont regret it.
